Heliographies

The shots Claus Stolz took for the work cycle »Sunburns« can be seen as photography in the literal sense - in this case, time exposures written by the sun itself. It is not the reflection of the objects, but the direct rays of the sun, which form a work of destruction.

Claus Stolz photographs public crowds. He takes a picture in fixed time intervals of one second and thus records a process related change of the groups he observes: slight movements we would be able to notice all the time, but cannot, since we do not have a receptive sense with the ability to memorize these gradual changes.
